Day 1: San Pedro Sula
Arrival, reception and transfer to your hotel. Free day. Optional visit to Copan archaeological site.
Day 2: San Pedro Sula –
Tela
Transfer from San Pedro Sula to Tela. En route we will visit
the Lancetilla Botanical Garden. The United Fruit Company
founded the gardens over 70 years ago as an experimental botanical
site. Here you will find hardwood, medicinal and ornamental
plants as well as tropical fruit trees from all over the world.
You will see how the bamboo forest absorbs some 90% of the
daylight, admire the long rows of majestic Royal Palms or
try exotic fruits fresh from the tree. An Orchid Garden and
a Natural Reserve with a beautiful 1,200 hectares of virgin
tropical rainforest make up this wonderful natural area. We
then proceed to our hotel. Freetime in the afternoon. Over¬night
in Tela.
Day 3: Punta Sal National
Park
In the early morning we leave by boat to explore the impressive
rock formations of Punta Sal. We visit the sheltered little
bays hidden among the rocks, with palm fringed beaches and
blue lagoons. We will then take a brief forest hike. The rest
of the time we are free to relax on the beach or swim and
snorkel in the crystal clear waters. Opportunity to explore
the interesting marine life of the world's second largest
Coral Reef, which comes close to the shore at Punta Sal. Overnight
in Tela.
Day 4: Tela – Nuevo
San Francisco
Today we take a full day hike behind the famous Lancetilla
Botanical Gardens, in a rain forest and tropical paradise.
This is the perfect place to escape civilisation for a few
hours and to experience natural Honduras at its best. This
area of tropical rain forest is home to a lot of birds, colourful
butterflies, monkeys and many other small animals. We will
walk in the shade of giant tropical trees, across streams
of fresh mountain water. Typical lunch and return to Tela
in the afternoon. Overnight in Tela.
Day 5: Tela – La Ceiba
- Roatán Island
After breakfast we transfer to La Ceiba airport for a 25-minute
flight to Roatán Island. You will be met at the airport
and transferred to your hotel. Overnight in Roatán.
Day 6 & 7: Roatán
Island
Days at leisure to enjoy Roatán as some of the best
beaches in Central America can be found on Roatán.
Many additional activities can be organised for these days
from snorkelling, diving, sea kayaking and water sports to
biking and horse riding. These are not included in the price.
Overnights Roatán.
Day 8: Roatán Island
– San Pedro Sula
Morning flight from Roatán to San Pedro Sula in time
to connect with your international departure flight.
