Day 1: San Pedro Sula
Arrival, reception and transfer to your hotel. Free
day. Optional visit to Copan archaeological site.
Day 2: San Pedro Sula - Trujillo
Transfer from San Pedro Sula to Trujillo. The Caribbean coast
of Honduras is one of the richest regions in popular culture,
contemporary history and tropical ecological diversity. It
is also the region that possesses the greatest agricultural
development. Along the way, we see lots of banana plantations
located on the banks of the Aguán River. En route we
will stop at interesting places to admire the views. Overnight
in Trujillo.
Day 3: Capiro and Calentura National
Park
Early morning excursion to the Capiro and Calentura National
Park, which is set on the mountain just behind Trujillo. The
mountain offers a great view of the Trujillo Bay, one of the
most beautiful in the country. The rest of the day you will
learn about the rich history of Trujillo and the Garífuna
villages Santa Fé and Guadalupe. Overnight in Trujillo.
Day 4: Trujillo – La Ceiba
Leisure time in the morning, and in the afternoon transfer
to La Ceiba. La Ceiba is a city of amazing diversity and energy.
We take a city tour and lunch. Before arriving at your hotel
we will visit the Butterfly House, a 4,000 square feet enclosure
that is filled with butterflies, tropical plants and flowers.
Overnight in La Ceiba.
Day 5: Cuero and Salado National
Park
Early transfer to La Unión. Here we change our vehicle
for a "burra" or "donkey" (man powered
railway car) to the Cuero Salado Wildlife Refuge Visitors’
Centre. Then we board a boat, which transports us into the
tropical forest, through the various canals, estuaries and
mangrove-bordered lagoons of the Salado River. There will
be an excellent opportunity to view wildlife along the way.
We return to La Ceiba in the afternoon, overnight in La Ceiba.
Day 6: Pico Bonito National Park
Today we go hiking in one of Honduras´ most beautiful
national parks, Pico Bonito. The park is home to a huge range
of animal species.
Some species that inhabit the park are Bairds Tapir, White
Tailed Deer, Northern Raccoon, Nine banded Armadillo, Naked
Tailed Armadillo, Jaguar, Mountain Lion, Kinkajou, Spider
Monkey, White Faced Monkey, as well as to many bird species.
Afternoon leisure time to enjoy the rich, tropical atmosphere
in one of the most hospitable towns in Honduras. Overnight
in La Ceiba.
Day 7: La Ceiba – River Rafting
Today we go River Rafting on the Río Cangrejal with
chances of class 2, 3 or 4 rapids, and home to some of the
best white water in Central America. We enjoy the beauties
of the landscape and return to La Ceiba in the late afternoon.
Overnight in La Ceiba.
Day 8: La Ceiba – San Pedro
Sula / Bay Islands
Leisure time during the morning to enjoy the atmosphere of
La Ceiba. Afternoon transfer for the La Ceiba - San Pedro
Sula direct bus or to the La Ceiba airport. (La Ceiba is the
perfect spot to leave to the Bay Islands).
